Our Inspiration
At Spice in Jar, we bring you the finest, truest, and purest flavors of South India, inspired by a legacy that spans four decades. Our journey began 40 years ago with my grandmother, Tamilarasi, a passionate artisan who specialized in crafting the most authentic South Indian masalas. Her dedication to quality and tradition led her to start a small spice business that, despite many twists and turns, never lost its way.
Being an Architect, I, Divya, have always been wanting to enter spice industry since decades. On a close journey with my grandmother since childhood, watching her cook and create masalas with passion and dedication I wanted to take a step in preserving the traditional authentic flavour.
Over time, I realized that every woman I met had a bit of my grandmother in them the same dedication, passion, and artistry. It made me question why so many women, who craft the finest masalas at home, never bring them to the market. Why do they stop at roasting and grinding and not take their creations to the tables of others? These threads of thought and curiosity led to the creation of Spice in Jar a dream jar of flavors, passion, and hard work, curated by the hands of women for the world to enjoy.
Today, Spice in Jar is supported by an incredible team of women-Legacy recipe creators, Estate owners. Authentic masala makers, Advisory board members, Marketing team, Research & Development team and Experts in hand-picking, drying, roasting, grinding, dry chilling, and packaging spices. Key women in this journey include Tamilarasi, Panchavarnam, Gnanambigai, Kavitha, Vidya, Satya and many more who are extending their wings in 2024, ready to soar to new heights.
Every jar carries not just spices but the essence of dreams, dedication, motherhood and the true flavors of South India.
